British Pullman Orient Express information
Timings
All timings shown on this site are for guidance only. Confirmed timings will be supplied with your travel documents. Please note that the British Pullman operates within the constraints of the rail network and timings may not be confirmed until 7 days prior to the excursion. Tickets and itineraries cannot be sent until these timings are received. Please check in 30 minutes before departure time.
Wardrobe Notes
Smart casual wear (but not jeans) is the order of the day except for Royal Ascot, when more formal wear is customary. For outdoor events such as Cowes, please wear practical clothing.
Steam Hauled Trips
Where Steam Hauled trips are advertised, every effort will be made to operate using steam traction for all or part of the journey. It is possible that diesel or electric traction may have to be substituted at short notice.
A Taste For Travel
Your fare includes table d'hôte meals on the journey. Menus are liable to seasonal change. If you have any special dietary requirements, make sure to advise when booking and we will do our best to comply.
Seating
Accommodation on the train is at tables for one, two, three or four. Please note that at busy times, parties of two may be seated sharing a table for four.
Smoking
With apologies to smokers, the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express operates a non smoking policy aboard its British Pullman train.
Mobile Phones
Out of consideration for your fellow passengers, please turn off mobile phones whilst in the Pullman carriages.
Insurance
Travel insurance is essential for ensuring peace of mind. Train Trips Direct will be happy to quote for applicable insurance cover. (Please note that any pre-existing medical conditions should be advised to our consultant at the time of taking out the insurance).
Gift Vouchers
If you're seeking a very acceptable present for a special occasion, look no further. We offer gift vouchers for an actual excursion or a set amount.
Disabled Passengers
We regret that, since the carriages date from the earlier decades of the century, they cannot be boarded in wheelchairs. However, our staff are available to assist any passengers to their seats and folding wheelchairs can be stored in the vestibules. Some excursions are more suitable for disabled travellers than others. Please ask for details.
Departures
All excursions are scheduled to depart from and arrive back at the stations described in the itineraries. However, on some dates, due to engineering works, the train may depart from or arrive back at a different station. At present, we are unaware of any changes, but we will advise you as soon as they are known.

As long as there is a railway line, we can take you there. Charter the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express British Pullman for your own purposes. Many companies choose it for the launch of luxury products, or to celebrate success, or even say "thank you". Whether it's destination, food, itinerary or entertainment, we are yours to command. Simply state your budget.
Transfers
Nearly all excursions involve a coach journey, either to transfer you to your final destination or as part of a guided tour. Coaches will be accompanied by a guide. Wherever practicable, we will use the nearest mainline railway station to the destination. An itinerary will be provided with your booking confirmation.
